the northern border of the Dordogne with the South Charante. We have two
swimming pools one is a small children's pool and the other is 14m x 7m.
We have a Snack Bar, which you can relax and have a meal and meet other
people of different nationalities.

A short walk from our campsite leads you directly to the natural site of
the Tourbieres, a collection of natural lakes which you can do many
activities including, fishing, walking the nature trails, boating on the
lakes, visit the museum or relax with a lunch-time or evening meal at the
Tourbieres Restaurant.

enjoy our natural surroundings we are on the randonee walking/trekking
routes and take in the beautiful views of the Dordogne and South Charante.

This property is up the first flight of stairs. The property consists of a
large twin bedroom, a master bedroom with luxury en-suite bathroom.
Spacious well equipped newly fitted kitchen which houses a cooker, hob,

This leads into the living and dining area and a smaller WC, shower and
wash basin.
In the living area there is a table which can seat up to 8 people, a sofa

There are two terrace areas, a patio area in front of the house and a
shaded area where the vines grow.
There is also a large paddling pool which can be filled and two umbrellas
to shade you from the sun, ideal for days when you don't want to travel to
the beach or for lazy evenings cooling off after sizzling on the beach.

Bird watching: Storks nests can be viewed from the house. Over summer
watch as the storks make their family, feed them and teach their children
how to fly. Swallows nest in the house eaves with other birds feed on the
lush vegetation.

Slow Down: The village also takes you back in time, you can watch as the
goats are taken up into the hills in the morning and returned in the
evening. Horses and live stock roam free in the village. The local people
take an active interest in all newcomers and welcome them into the
village.

Responsible Tourism: For a guilt free holiday look no further. The
property is not managed by a distant property management agency but the
neighbours in the village. They maintain the upkeep of the house and call
in local crafts men in should work need to be done. Home cooking can be
done on request by Maria, a neighbour, or maybe buy some of her
handicrafts. Locally produced honey, rakia, jam and sauces can be
purchased in the village.

Our house is situated in a mountain village about fifteen minutes by car
from the small friendly town, Kas (near Kalkan). It is a
cosy old-fashioned stone house built on the ruins of an antique Lycian
building. The cottage is beautifully situated in a scenic, historical and
peaceful area close to the ancient walking route �Lycian Road�, and it is
an ideal place for outdoor life, rest and absorption. The house can sleep
four and it is cosily decorated in a mix of oriental and vintage country
style. The ground floor contains a TV room with two beds, a spacious
kitchen-dining room and a big bathroom. The first floor contains a large
living room with a stove, a balcony and a small, light tea room with a
view of the mountains and the surrounding area.
In addition, the house has a garden and a terrace with a fireplace.

The house is equipped with a satellite dish, washing machine, telephone
and stereo set.

Kas is situated a two to three hour car ride from the airports in Dalaman

Blancou offers comfortable accommodation for families or groups sharing a

visit. Not only is Blancou an excellent base for those seeking an activity
based holiday or a place to �chill out�, it is also a wonderful spot for

The architecture and scenery is breath taking. All around are wonderful

Slightly further afield, the tallest bridge in the world at Millau makes a
good day trip as does the space centre in Toulouse. For those who like
driving, the Mediterranean or Pyrenees are both within easy reach.
Finally, don�t forget the wine. Blancou is next situated between the wine
producing regions of Gaillac and Quercy and a visit to the vineyards is
recommended.

Indoors
The accommodation consists of the farmhouse and an attached �Tower� and
provides facilities for eight guests. The farmhouse has three double
bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is a fully equipped kitchen and a
comfortable master sitting room. The tower provides self contained, two
storey accommodation. Upstairs is a double bedroom (double/twin) with en
suite bathroom. Downstairs there is a kitchenette and sitting room area
with fireplace. In addition to those facilities available in the farmhouse
the tower has: Fridge/freezer, two ring electric cooker, microwave oven,
CD Player. Please note there are a range of stone steps and a steep spiral
staircase in the property.

Outdoors
The swimming pool (10x6 and 1.9 at deep end) has a hilltop location with
fabulous views. Access is via a pool ladder. Pool is fenced. Pool can be
lit up at night by the flood light situated in the nearby walnut tree.
Large shady hangar for parking and gravelled entrance drive ideal for
boules!

Our beautiful villa is approx 15 miles from Disney on Southern Dunes
prestigious Golf & Country Club which is a gated community.

Built on the golf course this is an ideal location; close enough to feel
the Disney magic but far enough away to avoid the hustle and bustle. The
villa is ideally situated when visiting the theme parks, site seeing
around Florida or generally relaxing by our private, south facing pool.
For those in your party who play golf, Southern Dunes is one of the top
PGA golf courses in Florida so you can even combine your favourite sport
with your family holiday.

As the villa is very spacious its ideal for one or two families sharing.

Within Southern Dunes Golf & Country Club grounds you will find a
clubhouse, restaurant, community swimming pool, fitness gym, childrens
park, tennis courts and small lake. Just outside the main entrance gates
there�s a large Walmart store which is open 24 hours a day. There are
numerous restaurants within a few minutes drive or several directly
opposite Southern Dunes if you want to leave the car at the villa.

ABOUT THE VILLA

Living Area

The living area has ample seating space; in December 2004 we purchased new
3 and 2 seater sofas. Lovely large table lamps give a warm, homely effect
and matching coffee table adds to the design. Cable TV is installed for
your viewing along with a DVD player (Blockbuster is approx 5 minutes
away) and HIFI system again all purchased new in December 2004.

Kitchen Area

The kitchen area has all the usual utilities including cooker, American
fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher, waste disposal, electric kettle,
coffee maker, low fat grill (like George Foreman) blender, toaster etc.
There are also a few board games in the kitchen cupboard to keep the
children amused.
Adjacent to the kitchen is the smaller dining table that seats four people
and is fully laid with placemats, napkins and glasses.

Dining Area

To the side of the living area is a larger dining table which seats six
people comfortably when opened out. Again this is fully laid with
placemats, napkins and glasses.

Ensuite King Size Master Bedroom

The master bedroom has a king size bed and is ensuite. The walk in
wardrobe has ample storage along with the large dressing table with
mirror; cable TV and phone are also installed for homely comforts. Patio
doors open out onto the pool area.

Queen Size Bedroom

This room has a queen size bed and is ideal for families who are sharing
the accommodation.

Two Twin Rooms

There are two twin rooms; both have built in wardrobes and chests of
drawers. One of the twin rooms has a radio/CD player to keep the younger
guests amused.
Overall the bedrooms cater for eight people though a double folding bed
can be made available if needed as our Florida State licence does cover us
for up to 10 people.

The Pool Area

The villa has a beautiful south facing private pool, which catches the
Florida sun all day round. Patio furniture includes table, chairs and
loungers.

Utility Room

The utility room has a washer, dryer, hoover, iron and ironing board,
generally a home from home.

Phone Calls

Local phone calls are free and you�re also able to call International once
you�ve registered your credit card details via the phone. Information on
setting up a phone account is available in the villa. Costs will be
charged directly to your card and the service is disabled on your
departure date.

A stunning train journey

Andalucia Express: Algeciras � Ronda
One of Europe�s great short rail journeys, this 50-mile stretch through
the Ronda mountains was built from 1890-1892 by the British so that their
officers, and passengers on cruise ships bound for the east, could escape
the heat of Gibraltar by heading upwards. There are four trains each way
per day. Ronda is a 32 minute ride and the price is 2 Euros! It was a
British engineer named Henderson who was responsible for the construction
of the Ronda-Algeciras line. The train that plied this route came to be
known as the Smugglers Express. It went so slowly that contraband butter,
cocoa and tobacco from Gibraltar could be sold from the train windows!
The little horseshoe of houses is virtually next to the River Guadiaro.
The village - Jimera de L�bar -is in a valley surrounded by a nature
reserve and is a great favourite with birdwatchers. Numerous walkers and
birdwatdhers' websites mention how excellent the restaurant near the
station is - it is a few steps from our door. There are a number of
bars/restaurants five minutes drive away in Cortes, and a particularly
lovely well-known restaurant Molino del Santo, fifteen minutes drive away
at Benaoj�n.
From May/June until mid-September there is even a little makeshift bar on
the river bank run by our Spanish friend Mari-Angeles.
Inside - tiled floors throughout. The living room has dining table, a
sofa and armchairs Hi-Fi and working open fireplace; beyond there is a
separate fully fitted kitchen. The back door opens from here on to the
tiny rear patio - just room for the four chairs and small table.
Upstairs are two bedrooms � one double, one twin. There is also air
conditioning!
The outdoor space is just the tiny patio at the rear. There is also the
communal lawn outside front door which is nice to sit out on.

Three minutes drive away is the newly constructed municipal outdoor
swimming pool in a breathtaking setting a little higher up the valley.
Open only June to early Sept.
Gaucin and Ronda (both on the train line moments from your front door) are
each just under thirty minutes drive. There are lots of quiet white
villages around and also well-marked walks.
The Griffon Vulture is one of the wildlife spectacles in the area. The
coast is about one hour by car. Or take the train down to Algeciras -
about 5 Euros each way(!) and catch a boat to Africa.

located in the basement (level 1 in the lift).

About the location (which is superb): it's just a few steps away from the
old town with all its shops, bars, restaurants, the town square, Post
Office, Tourist Office, banks and of course the ski bus stops that take
you to all the ski areas in the Chamonix Valley. The lifts at the bottom
of le Brevent ski area can be reached on foot within 15 minutes and when
there is snow at the bottom, you can almost ski to the back door.

There is ample parking (on street meters as well as large car parks)
within 3-5 minutes walk...that's if you can't find a space right outside.

Added bonus: a well-known and very popular local patisserie is located on
the ground floor of the building - you can pop out for your crossaints in
your pyjamas!

Chamonix is not just for skiing - it is one of the best location in the
Alps for activities and leisure pursuits. The list of things you can do is
endless - both in summer and winter.

Last but by no means least - don't underestimate the length of the ski
season in Chamonix - its one of the longest in the world. Last year we
were still skiing in the middle of May!! Lifts usually open first weekend
of December and close on second Sunday in May (with extension of 1-2
weekends if there is enough snow). In Spring, you can literally go skiing
and sunbathe or do water sports in the same day afternoon.

Deep in the South of France, nestling in the foothills of the French
Pyrenees, the stone cottage, parts of which date back to the early 18th
century enjoys an elevated position offering spectacular views over the
neighbouring village of Couiza and the surrounding countryside by day, and
the twinkling lights down in the valley reminding you of your elevated
position by night.

Sitting on the south facing patio with swifts wheeling overhead, enjoying
the last rays of the days sun while sipping a glass of wine is an ideal
way to end the day. With views to Renne-le-Chateau and Coustaussa Castle
on the other side of the valley and, in the distance, the snow topped
Pyrenees just visible. We are 10 minutes walk to the river Aude beyond
which is the neighbouring village of Couiza with bars, restaurant,
supermarket, beauty salon, bank & post office.

The accommodation is over 3 floors with 2 double bedrooms and a bathroom
on the first floor and a twin room on the top floor, all with spectacular
views of the surrounding countryside. The ground floor kitchen with
fridge/freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle and dishwasher has all
you need for a comfortable stay. The large dining room seats 6, and the
lounge, which opens onto the small terrace, is equipped with a CD player,
a selection of books and a radio.

The cottage is at the centre of the Cathare region with hill top castles
and the medieval city of Carcassonne to remind you of the fascinating and
often tragic history for which this region is renowned. Just across the
valley from the cottage is Rennes le Chateau, centre of a mystery still
very much alive with many books written & films made on the subject. The
mystery is one of sudden wealth, secret codes and a search for treasure in
the latter part of the 19thC. The link with the village is very strong as
in 1852 B�renger Sauni�re, the priest at the centre of the mystery was
born in Montazels. (Just type Montazels into any search engine and take
your pick of the many web sites if you wish to delve deeper).

The weather in the Languedoc is very mediterranean with 300 days of
sunshine a year. The local rivers, lakes and natural spas provide bathing
opportunities plus the coast is just 90minutes away. If skiing is your
thing, the nearest resort at 40kms away is Camurac, with 15 slopes, two of
which are green, 8 blues, 2 red and 3 black. With 7 ski lifts, 13 snow
canons and 14 km of cross-country ski tracks. Buses leave every half hour
from Quillan (7kms) during the season.

Aude en Pyr�n�es is the crossroads of the Corbieres and the Pyrenees, an
ideal location to go hiking with 190km of waymarked trails. For anglers
the aude is a Grade 1 trout river just 10 minutes walk from the door,
where you can also find mediterranean barbel, while rafters, white water
swimmers, and kayakers of all levels of ability are offered the most
exceptional water sports in the gorges of the Aude Valley.

Getting There.
Flying: At just 40 minutes drive Carcassonne is the closest airport to
Montazels, with 2 Ryanair flights a day from Stanstead. There are Hertz &
Eurocar car hire offices at the airport plus a shuttle bus to the station
for a train to Couiza/Montazels, (10 minutes walk to the house). Easyjet
fly from Gatwick to Toulouse which is 90 minutes drive from the house. The
other options are Stanstead to Perpignan (1 hours drive), or Gerona in
Spain (2,5 hours drive) from variouse British airports.

Kitts, located on the north east coast of Nevis.
The house is set back from the small island road at an elevated position

The fine, pale golden sands of Oualie Beach are directly opposite and
access is a three or four minute stroll from the garden gate.

bordered by Fairfield, Ivanhoe, Collingwood and Kew. They can be reached
from the first exit off the Eastern Freeway, which is easily accessible by
car. The Eastern Freeway continues past the suburb of Doncaster (10
minutes) to the eastern suburbs and the Dandenong Ranges. Tullamarine
(Melbourne) airport is access by car or taxi and is a 20-30 minute drive.
Trains run from Clifton Hill every 10 minutes, and the ride into Melbourne
CBD takes about 10 minutes. Buses are also frequent and a timetable is
available at the house. Golf, walking and cycling cycling tracks are all
close by. Fairfield has a number of main street shops including
groceries, restaurants and cafes. Ivanhoe is a major shopping centre.

What is provided?
Everything is supplied to make you feel at home, but we do not normally
provide fresh food items. Quality linen and towels are providedand the
houses are clean on arrival. but not serviced during your stay, however we
can provide service and weekly linen change on request at A$70 per week.

HISTORICAL NOTES

Estero and San Carlos Islands

Turn the hourglass and watch the sands of time trickle back to the past of
Fort Myers Beach.
Return to the time when pirates buried treasure, Spaniards built forts,
Indians hunted on the Beach, homesteaders staked their claims, shrimpers
netted pink gold, a hurricane severed a land connection and mosquito
hordes clouded the air.

The last homesteader staked his claim in Estero Island in 1914. Leroy
Lemoreaux cleared his land and survived by growing vegetables and fishing.

Lemoreaux remembered bears stalking the island and panthers howling in the
night. In the 1890's, the only weapon they had against the hordes of
mosquitoes was smoke.
Those were the days before bridge linked the island to the mainland of
Fort Myers area. A wooden swing toll bridge was the first bridge built in
1921. The toll was 50 cents for five people. The 1926 hurricane washed it
away and served the slim neck of land attaching San Carlos to the mainland
making it and island. Today, it's still called Hurricane Pass.
In the 1870's, pirates plied their trade along the shores. That's how
Black Island, south of Estero, got its name. After a defeat by the U.S.
Navy, Black Augustus took his loot and settled on the island.
The family of John Butterfield squatted on Mound Key in Estero Bay during
that time and provisioned the aging pirate with sugar, coffee, grits and
other luxuries in exchange for vegetables.
When the pirate died, he showed the family where to dig up his booty.
Perhaps more treasure is hidden along the shores. Rumors persist that
pirates used to sink long boats laden with treasure to later recover.
And Pirates weren't the only sailors frequenting the island's waters. Juan
Ponce de Leon may have sailed waters around Estero Island about 1513.
Hernando de Soto may have also dropped anchor in front of Estero Island in
1539.
Relics of skulls and other artifacts found on Mound Key suggest that
Spanish conquistadors may have passed through the Beach and perhaps built
a fort on the hill on Mound Key.
But the aura of mystery surrounding Mound Key belongs to the first
settlers, the Caloosa Indians.
The Caloosa's origins remain obscure but some scholars such as Rolfe F.
Schell in his book, History of Fort Myers Beach suggest that Caloosas may
have traveled by rafts from Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
Caloosa artifacts displayed in a Fort Walton museum would be claimed as
early Mayan if displayed in Mexico, Schell wrote.
There's little doubt of what caused their demise. Diseases such as measles
brought by European explorers probably caused many of the Indian's deaths.
The Caloosa Indians kitchen middens, containing shards and edible
shellfish remains, were found at the end of Connecticut Avenue on Estero
Island. Since these early people cannot speak for themselves, their
artifacts tell tales of their lives.
Reverse the hourglass and return to our times. Today, the Beach's tourist
industry flourishes. Thousands of people come to dine on "pink gold"
shrimp and celebrate the industry and the blessing of the fleet with a
week long Shrimp Festival, usually held in March.

ENTERTAINMENT & EVENTS

The Beach hosts an annual Sand sculpting Contest in November and the
Shrimp Festival in March draws thousands to the Blessing of the Shrimp
Fleet. A 5-K run precedes the event.
A July 4 Fireworks Display and Old Fashioned Family Day sparks the annual
Independence Day Festival.
Golf tournaments, Taste of the Beach, Annual New Year's Eve Celebrations,
Offshore Powerboat Races and other sporting events liven life on the
Beach.
Santa rides his boat along the Shoreline in the Christmas Holiday Boat
Parade. A Christmas light decoration contest for homes, businesses and
boats is included in the festivities.
Facilities that provide entertainment for the whole family include the
Fort Myers Beach community pool (open to the public) and the Beach Movie
Theater.
